Biggest Turkey Trot Races into Town on Hottest Day in Event History
We are pleased to report that the Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot has been named the largest Thanksgiving Day race in the nation by Running USA and the second coolest Turkey Trot in the U.S. by Mother Nature Network!
Those who came out to trot this year may have tried to avoid the kitchen heat and related prep duties, but as luck would have it our 5K and 10K races landed on the hottest Thanksgiving Day since the event was founded by the Silicon Valley Leadership Group way back in 2005. The thermometer reached a very pleasant 74 degrees in San Jose, California as more than 22,000 participants took to the streets to burn a few calories and raise funds for five local charities – Healthier Kids Foundation Santa Clara County, Housing Trust Silicon Valley, Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, Second Harvest Food Bank Santa Cruz County, and The Health Trust.
Applied is equally proud to be a member of such a generous community that has raised more than $7.5M through 13 years of trotting. The Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot is a marvelous holiday tradition for our employees and neighbors – in any weather – and we thank everyone for coming out and helping us kick off this season of giving, sharing and festivities.
It is never too early to join the cool or hot fun! Registration for the 2018 Applied Materials Silicon Valley Turkey Trot is now open!
