Applied Materials Named Among 2016 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations
I’m pleased to announce that Applied Materials has placed #56 on Corporate Knights’ 2016 Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World index. This is the first time Applied secured a ranking on the index, which spotlights top sustainability performers in their respective sectors.
We should all be proud to work for a company like Applied, with a long-standing commitment to corporate citizenship and doing business responsibly. We’ve been named a Most Ethical Company® by the Ethisphere Institute four years running, and regularly place among the top in our industry on FORTUNE magazine’s World’s Most Admired Companies list.
From the health and well-being of our employees and their communities to our sustainable business practices and corporate governance - every aspect of our business strives to make a positive impact. For example, in recent years we have taken steps to utilize more renewable green energy in our operations and reduce our process gas emissions.
Companies recognized are selected from 4,353 companies with a market capitalization greater than $2 billion (USD).The Global 100 is determined using 12 quantitative sustainability indicators, including the amount of revenue companies generate per unit of energy consumed.
“Global 100 companies strive to make the world a better place; and they are where people want to work, buy from and invest in for the long term,” said Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights.
